Cooking Lessons | Session 3 | Knife Sharpening with Mark
One might ask, what does knife sharpening have to do with being a better cook. The answer is, everything. Your knife is your quintessential tool in the kitchen. Your Mise en Place (prep) your level of professionalism & the efficiency by which you work are all inner connected to having a sharp, quality knife & knowing how to properly use it. It makes the task of cutting not only safer but more pleasurable.
In our third cooking lesson in a series of five, Mark teaches us through a video tutorial, how to use a whetstone for sharpening your knife. The set used for this tutorial is by GTING & is sold on Amazon. He also gives suggestions for using a ceramic hand held sharpening tool if you are not inept to using a stone. Mark uses Wustoff Pro while I’ve been flirting with Misen knives.
Though a steel is not mentioned in the tutorial, please note that it is an essential tool for maintaining your blade. It is not however a knife sharpener as many think. It is simply used to keep the edge true.
